Evac+Chair Launches New Low Cost Rental and Service Package at Leisure Industry Week

Evac+Chair International, Stand 3660, Leisure Industry Week 2006

At Leisure Industry Week this year, Evac+Chair International launched its new rental and service package scheme for its emergency evacuation chairs for the mobility impaired. The package is designed to assist large leisure sites to meet Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) requirements instantly and cost effectively.

With a full size staircase on stand, visitors will also have a chance to take part in live demonstrations of the Evac+Chair, showing how one person can transport another downstairs quickly and safely in an emergency with only a minimum amount of training and little physical strength required. Not only do the chairs allow leisure facilities to comply with the DDA, but they also allow compliance with the new Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order coming into effect in October this year, under which the onus will be on the leisure facility to provide an adequate means of escape for all.

The company will also be showing its IBEX Transeat, which is a stair climber and stair descender that grips the stairs and controls the rate of descent with an adjustable braking system. The device will ascend a stair with the application of minimal force by two operators and the injured passenger is never elevated above ground level and is never in danger of falling off the Transeat.
